Acupuncture treats the body from head to toe and has proven clinical results.
Private clinics, and many conventional medical institutions, including hospitals, doctor’s offices, and non-profits around the world now offer acupuncture.
During a treatment, very thin, hair-thin needles are inserted at key points on the body. These specific points are neural nodules. When stimulated these nodes send a message (impulse) to the mid-brain through the nervous system and proprioceptive pathways affecting both the central and peripheral nervous systems and trigger a cascade of biological responses, including boosting the release of the body’s internal chemicals such as endorphins and enkephalins, which have pain-relieving properties. The distal needle style of acupuncture activates a message to the mid-brain to target areas where circulation is blocked or weak. This is important because poor circulation slows healing and can lead to many types of pain, such as numbness, tingling, aching, or piercing, cramping or burning pain. In essence, restoring healthy circulation delivers additional oxygen, nutrients, and healing factors, regaining the body’s healthy balance.
At birth, the blood flow in the body is the strongest it will ever be. Babies are pink with healthy blood flow, growing by the minute, and falling down and bouncing back 2,000 times in the first few years just learning how to walk. The young have dramatic healing ability and that is due to amazing blood flow. Over time our vascular flow diminishes. Why? Blood vessels clot up from bad eating habits, vessels get damaged from trauma, chronic stress increases the heart rate and blood pressure and damaging to the cardiovascular system, just to mention a few common cause
Over time areas with constricted blood flow are affected by the reduction of oxygen, nutrients, and the body’s healing mediators. Certain body areas such as the joints, the brain, heart, muscles and the extremities are more prone to loss of circulation. Restricted blood flow reduces the body’s natural ability to heal. If there is an existing lack of nutrient flow in the tissues and nerves in an area and then the area becomes damaged it is extremely difficult for the body to correct, and where chronic health problems develop.
Utimately, highly oxygenated, highly nutritious blood coursing through the body is the essence of health!
Pleasant Hill Community Acupuncture uses Distal Needle Acupuncture. This method is over 2,500 years old and is derived from the I Ching, one of the oldest books in the world. Distal Needling Acupuncture, or Balance Method Acupuncture, varies widely from the typical treatments one can receive in the United States, and the results are far more effective and sustainable.
We use a style of distal needling (DNA) developed by Robert Doane L.Ac. and has been clinically tested in a high patient volume clinic for over 10 years with outstanding results. DNA is a refinement to traditional acupuncture, and can lessen the number of needles used while increasing effectiveness. Many find complete relief in one treatment. This style of therapy shows the true power of what acupuncture is actually capable of and begins to correct the cause of the problem from the first treatment.
